Paxil has completely taken away my desire for sex!
I don’t want to talk about this but I feel it is important to share. This problem is probably affecting thousands upon thousands of people.
No desire for sex doesn’t bother me because the feelings for that are completely gone. However, I am married and this is having a very negative affect on my marriage. Sex is important in a relationship so I am going to try and fix this issue.
I have been on Paxil on and off for years; since I was about 14. I am 34 now. Sometimes with medications I just think that this is as good as it’s going to get and I just deal with the side effects. I can no longer do that as it is not good for my relationship.
I have an appointment with my psychiatrist next week. I am going to tell him that I want off of the Paxil. I will have to slowly come off of it; the withdrawal from Paxil is not fun. I have done it a few times. I am on the Paxil because I have a severe case of OCD. This is why the doctor keeps me on it. I have expressed interest in not taking it several times in the past and the psychiatrist has not offered to discontinue its use.
I see a psychologist regularly and she helps me with my meds. She suggested I ask about trying a certain medication instead; she gave me the name for it but I don’t have it at this exact moment. I can blog about the medication later if I begin using it.
Going off the Paxil makes me nervous because my OCD is very serious. I will pray that an alternative can be found.
I have put in a couple of links that may be helpful for others with this problem.

Getting off of it for me is not as bad as it is for other people. I feel sick, nauseous and have a headache for several days. Some people have more severe problems when trying to stop it.
